The District Superintendent of Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa, Rev. Isaac Adigun has said for Nigeria to experience economic turnaround again, everyone, including those in authority must return to God.

Rev. Isaac stated this on Sunday during the Church Christmas Concert with the theme ‘Good Tidings of Great Joy’, held at the church headquarters in Lagos.

Adigun revealed that the theme is a quotation from the word of God found in the Gospel according to St. Luke, the second chapter, verse 10 which talked about the ‘Good tidings of great joy’, noting that it was a message of hope, saying “If there was any time we needed a message like that, as Nigerians, it is now”

Isaac explained that the purpose of the gathering was for people to have a feeling of great joy even in the midst of Nigeria’s enormous challenges. “We want to be sure that we experience that great joy. The good news is that the saviour is born. The One that can deliver us from life suffering. It’s not just for you alone. It was proclaimed unto all people. So, we are here to experience that great joy. Nigeria needs the message of ‘Great Joy’ so that we can experience peace”

He added that genuine repentance and service to God will also improve the security of lives and properties. “If we take that theme seriously, pray about it, it’s not just only our economy that will improve, safety and security in Nigeria will be something that we will continue to rejoice about”

The clergy assured Nigerians that the church is seriously praying for the country to bounce back and resume its position as the giant of Africa. “On insecurity, we have had this, especially when the president of Nigeria declared a state of emergency. Immediately we got that information as a praying church, we took that seriously. We started praying for the country. And that is what we are doing” he added.

He urged everyone to open up their hearts for Christ to save and deliver them from life’s sufferings, saying that’s the reason for his coming, which is what the church and every other Christian is celebrating – the coming of the Lord.

“I prayed that God takes out every darkness that connotes bloodsheds, wickedness, sins in the country, and enlighten the heart of every Nigerian so that everyone can enjoy peace again”

On his part, Rev. Dotun Ewumi, Music Director of the church said that the solution to Nigeria problem is Jesus Christ because he is the Light of the world, Counselor, Prince of Peace and the One that have come to give mankind joy unprecedented.

According to him, the crisis and insecurity in Nigeria were because Nigerians turned away from their creator. He added that the peace Nigerians desire will come if everyone accept Christ and embrace righteousness. “If we want to experience peace, our political leaders and everyone Nigeria must accept Christ and embrace righteousness because the bible said righteousness exalt a nation but sin is a reproach”

He urged Nigerians to keep praying for those in authority that God will help them to do the right thing. He opined that some leaders wish to do the right thing but lack the power to do them. “We need to pray that God should help and direct the leaders. However, they should also accept their Maker so that He will guide them because He made it possible for them to be in those positions and for a purpose – to benefit the populace. If they turn to God and ask Him for help, He will surely help them”,he assured.
