Nigeria’s Abdulhamid elected WTO’s trade policy review chairperson

The Nigerian ambassador to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Adamu Mohammed Abdulhamid, has been elected as the chairperson of the WTO’s Trade Policy Review body for the 2024/2025 period.

His appointment was ratified and he formally took over on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Before this appointment, the ambassador was the WTO Trade Facilitation Committee chairperson for the 2022/2023 period.

In 2023, he served as the chairperson for the WTO Council for Trade in Goods under which he supervised 14 subsidiary bodies for 2023/2024.
