From Desmond Mgboh, Kano
Kano State governor, Abudllahi Umar Ganduje has urged Nigerians to work together to be stronger and better.
“In this trying and challenging times, we must combine our strength and be united and focused to make our nation stronger” said the governor.
He spoke, Saturday, at the occasion of the 62nd Independence Anniversary celebrations at the Sani Abacha Stadium in the state.
According to the governor, there is every reason to be grateful to Allah for keeping the nation together in the past 62 years, despite our challenges.
“We all need one another to survive as no part of Nigeria can do it all alone and still have or command the kind of influence that Nigeria enjoys in the comity of nations” he declared.
He appealed to Nigerians to renew their belief in the nation and play their parts persistently to achieve the dreams of our founding fathers.
Ganduje reminded Nigerians that the occasion was coming at a most challenging time in the life of the nation due to the present insecurity in the land.
He, however recognized the recent successes by security agencies over insurgents, bandits and other criminals, urging Nigerians to support the military by giving them useful information to act upon.
He prayed for peace, unity and prosperity in the country.
