An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, in Lagos State, Livinus Okwara, has commended the president for introducing new policies which he said are making Nigerians regain confidence in the economy.
Okwara who is also chairman, Rimax Group noted that he was so much involved during the campaign of the president, and that he was optimistic that Tinubu will deliver on his promise to the nation credibly.
He believes the feat he achieved when he was governor of Lagos state will be replicated in a higher dimension at the federal level.
Okwara , who said he believes in the capacity of the president to take the nation to the next level, narrated how he cherished the late MKO Abiola , who was a phylantropist that was loved by many.
The Chieftain said he was so involved during the campaign in the days of Abiola, adding that the late Abiola set the pace for the next set of politicians who came up later, because through him they learnt dedication and patriotism to the country Nigeria.
The politician cum business man said he takes his business seriously and plays politics when it’s time for politics, as he does not believe that one is in politics to make money.
He said he tried his best during the campaign for Tinubu as he had one of the biggest bill boards in Lagos and gave his best to make the party win.
Okwara noted that so far, he was happy with the success of Tinubu as his policies are revamping the economy.
On the fuel subsidy removal, the chief noted that the policy had been a big fraud, applauding the new administration for the move to abolish the policy.
He congratulated him on the new appointment as the new ECOWAS Chairman, saying those that appointed him know his capacity as an expert in economy management.
” Tinubu has started very well, economically. He knows the major principles that will give economic power. He has decided instead of robbing the poor, to pay the rich, he will tax more of the rich so that they can shed more of their weight. That is his economic power.
“And secondly, I think he has done very well in the appointments of security chiefs. The public have been angling for this because a situation where you have 80% of the security chiefs coming from the one part of the country does augur well.
A case where one section of the country had monopolized for about eight years was not impressive.
“So he has improved on that and has brought a sense a of belonging to Nigerians
I think he has done quite well and people are regaining confidence in the nation.
“I also applaud the unification of the exchange rate, which has helped to stabilize the economy.
From what I have learnt from economics, for industrialization, the tendency is to make your products cheaper.”
