The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has urged Nigerians to continue to trust in God for better days ahead because the country will become noble again, despite the socio-economic and political challenges besetting its progress.
The PFN Chairman in Lagos State, Apostle Enyinnaya Okwuonu, gave the assurance at the 2024 edition of the Greater Grace Conference, organised by the Olivet Bible Church, Festac, Lagos recently, where the Senior Pastor of the church, Owen Nlekwuwa, was the chief host, who also admitted that Nigeria is going through a challenging phase politically and economically, apart from the worsening security situation.
Okwuonu stated: “So, this country where everything is happening; the hardship, the inflation is bad, but this country would be good again. This country will be on top again. We will not only be giant in geography and sports, we will also be giant economically. We say these things, and we must believe it. When we pray, it will happen.
“We pray for people in government. No matter who is there, we pray that God will help them. They can’t be there and can’t do anything good for this country on their own, but with God helping them, they can do all things.”
Okwuonu also gave nuggets on how to cope with rising cost of living and skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. He emphasised that trusting God and working right are best ways to thrive during tough times.
His words: “The question is how Christians or members of the church thrive during this time of hardship. We can’t deny that it is a difficult situation. The world has been experiencing hard times for a long time, depending on the level and intensity. Other countries are going through it.
“So all we need to do is pray to God, and then we can receive the direction on how to get out of it. You cannot throw all the blame on the government. There must be something you have done wrong to contribute to the hardship, which you shouldn’t have done, and there is something you should do, which you have not done.”
“First of all, it is when we get help that we can offer help. We are not trying to get out of hard times on our own like an escape route. We are trying to get out of hard times for the sake of the people that we influence so that their lives can also be better. You must be connected to God and the Holy Spirit.”
