Nigeria targets investment boom with global investors expo

The Federal Government has intensified its drive to attract foreign investment, with the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, declaring that Nigeria is ready for responsible investors willing to unlock opportunities across key sectors of the economy.

Speaking ahead of the maiden Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo 2026, slated for November in Abuja, Alake, represented by the Director-General of the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Mr Simon Nkom, said he accepted to serve as Patron of the event because of its strategic importance in positioning Nigeria as a prime investment destination and linking bankable projects with global investors.

He said the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development would work closely with the organisers to ensure the expo produces real investments and strengthens partnerships between government and the private sector.

Alake said the Tinubu administration is widening Nigeria’s economic base beyond oil through sweeping reforms in mining, power, manufacturing, infrastructure, trade and investment, adding that the solid minerals sector is being transformed from the export of raw minerals to value addition, local processing, manufacturing and job creation.

The minister stressed that Nigeria seeks investors with patient capital, modern technology and technical expertise who are prepared to obey Nigerian laws, protect host communities and uphold environmental standards.

According to him, the expo will provide investors with direct access to viable projects, government policies, investment incentives and partnership opportunities, while also creating a platform to address critical issues such as infrastructure, financing, licensing, technology, security and market access.

He noted that the participation of the ministries overseeing Industry, Trade and Investment, Power, and Petroleum Resources reflects the Federal Government’s coordinated approach to economic development, while state governments will showcase investment opportunities in their respective domains.

Alake challenged the organisers to ensure the event delivers measurable outcomes, insisting that its success should be judged by investment deals sealed and projects executed, not by the number of participants.

Earlier, Portfolio Manager and Head of Corporate Development at EnergyNet, Abdullahi Sylla, said the Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo was designed to showcase Nigeria’s economic reforms and present bankable projects to international investors.

He explained that the event would bring together development finance institutions, project developers, technology providers and investors across mining, energy, infrastructure and ports, while also featuring a Youth Energy Summit to promote innovation, job creation and youth participation in the nation’s economic transformation.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, represented by the Director of Mines and Environmental Compliance, Dr Vivian Okono, urged the media to sustain accurate and professional reportage to build public confidence and ensure the success of the maiden investors’ expo.
