Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have entered into a landmark five-year defence and military cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening security collaboration between both countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, and his Saudi counterpart, Dr. Khaleed H. Al-Biyari, on behalf of their respective governments.

The pact, announced in a statement by Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State for Defence, Ahmed Dan Wudil, covered joint efforts in military training, intelligence sharing, defence production, strategic operations, and broader security development.

According to the Defence Ministry, the agreement represents a major leap in bilateral relations and signals a renewed commitment to jointly address emerging security threats.

It expressed optimism that the collaboration would strengthen national defence capacity and contribute to ending security challenges in affected parts of the country.

The Ministry welcomed the partnership, assuring Nigerians that ongoing security issues “will soon be over” with sustained international cooperation and enhanced operational capabilities.
