The nation has, again, suffered another blackout following the collapse of the national grid. This is coming after four days when the last collapse took place on January 27, 2026.
The website of Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) indicates that all the distribution companies (DIsCOs) were not allocated supply as at 10:54 am.
Only Delta Gas Power Plant was generating electricity as at 11:14 am with 39 megawatts on the grid.
According to Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), the collapse was associated with the simultaneous tripping of multiple 330KV transmission lines, alongside the disconnection of some grid-connected generating units.

A check on the DisCo load indicates that Abuja DisCo distributes 561 MW; Ikeja, 554 MW; Eko, 471 MW; Ibadan, 439 MW; Benin, 299 MW and Enugu, 285 MW.
Others are Port Harcourt, 260 MW; Kano, 246 MW; Kaduna, 237 MW; Jos, 207 MW and Yola, 107 MW totalling 3,666 MW in a country of over 200 million people.
