Nigeria not complex, complicated to rule – Moghalu

Kingsley-Chiedu-Moghalu

Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu said the idea that Nigeria is too complex or complicated to rule as portrayed in some quarters is laughable.

The 2019 presidential candidate of Young Progressives Party (YPP) made the submission in a Facebook post on Monday.

Moghalu said a visionary, competent and committed leader would easily rule the nation successfully.

The pioneer President of African School of Governance said Nigerians owed it to themselves to unite and set themselves free under such leadership.

He said, “When we hear ‘Ah, Nigeria is complex’, ‘Nigeria is complicated’, ‘the Nigerian factor’, ‘the President has good intentions (but…)’, I just smile. There is nothing complex or complicated about Nigeria at all.

“All we need is a committed and competent leader with a clear vision, which can then be used as a rallying point, a negotiating and mobilization platform, to ‘manufacture consent’. Nigerians owe it to themselves to set themselves free with such leadership.

“We can manufacture our own reality. Nigeria today is a sunken place.”

SunOnline reports that Moghalu will speak at the 17th Annual Global Empowerment Meeting (GEM26) hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for International Development (CID) from May 4-5, 2026.

He is billed to serve as a panelist on “Doing development differently”, a session scheduled for May 5.

Moghalu described the event as an opportunity for a discussion with potential outcomes that could reshape the trajectory of many developing countries, especially in Africa.
