Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has won the Operational Excellence Award at the 2026 Energy Awards, a recognition of its performance in safety, efficiency and reliability at a time when the company is advancing its Train 7 expansion project.
The award was presented during the 25th anniversary edition of Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Energy Week, held from July 5 to 9 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The Operational Excellence Award honours organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance in process optimisation, operational reliability, cost efficiency, sustainable business practices and continuous improvement.
The recognition comes as NLNG continues to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s gas industry through investments aimed at boosting liquefied natural gas production, supporting domestic gas utilisation and expanding the country’s footprint in the global energy market.
At the conference, the company participated in high-level discussions on gas development, energy security, sustainability, innovation and the future of Nigeria’s energy industry alongside policymakers, regulators, investors and other industry stakeholders.
NLNG said the award reflects its sustained commitment to operational discipline, world-class asset management and a strong safety culture that has enabled it to maintain reliable LNG supplies to international markets while contributing to Nigeria’s economy through revenue generation, local content development and strategic investments.
The company also said the recognition acknowledges the dedication of its workforce in driving operational excellence and delivering value across its business.
The latest honour adds to NLNG’s growing list of industry recognitions and comes as the company pushes ahead with the Train 7 Project, expected to increase Nigeria’s LNG production capacity and strengthen the country’s role in the global gas market.
NOG Energy Week, one of Africa’s largest energy gatherings, brought together government officials, regulators, energy companies, technology providers and investors to examine strategies for accelerating investment, innovation and collaboration across the continent’s energy sector.
