Niger spends N1.2bn on drainage in Minna

The Niger State Government, on Wednesday, said that it spent N1.2 billion on the extension of drainage in Minna.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Works and Transport, Alhaji Umar Bawa, said this in an interview, in Minna.

“The state government has constructed additional drainage at the cost of N1.2 billion to tackle flooding in Minna,’’ he said.

Bawa said that phase one of the project was executed at the cost of N285 million while the second phase gulped N1.4 billion.

He said that the drains that were initially constructed by Julius Berger could no longer control flood.

The Permanent Secretary said that government was rehabilitating old drainage and constructing new ones in major towns across the state. (NAN)
