… Says New Niger Agenda not just a slogan

Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has set N100billion target for the state Internal Revenue Board, saying that the state has the capacity to surpassed the N4billion his administration inherited.
The governor also said that the “New Niger” agenda of his administration is not just a mere slogan but a dream that is realizable with the support of the people of the state.
The governor spoke in Minna on Wednesday during the anniversary lecture as part of the activities to mark his one year in office.
Governor Bago disclosed that the state currently generates N10billion monthly, as IGR, over 100% increase from the N4billion it inherited from the previous administrations, stressing that the government is working towards generating N100 billion by 2025.
“We are ambitious and bold about what we want to do. We will not spend people but we will spend money to have people live. Don’t worry about where the money would come from. Only worry about how we will spend the money.

Bago said the ongoing projects across the state is just the beginning of the plans he has for his new Niger agenda stating that he is determined to give the best to the people and ensure they benefit from every sector.
“When we do these works, don’t thank me. It is your right, it is not a privilege but your right. It is your right for us to provide you with basic necessities. If you do not have, task us and we will give you. We need to give to the society what the society have given to us”.
The Governor stated that those who feel they cannot match up with the speed of the government should take the back seat as the government is determined to work over time to ensure things work in the state, “we will be working for 36 hours a day.
According to him, “We have been in gear one, now we are going to gear two because all we have done in the past one year is just the tip of the iceberg”, he said.
Bago appreciated his team and the other arms of the government for making the programmes, projects and policies achieved so far in the state a reality and equally thanked the people foe their patience, prayers and support in the last one year.
The one year anniversary lectures were delivered by the former Minister of Commerce, Engineer Mustafa Bello who spoke on ‘Assessing the Bago administration’s policy footprint’ and the former Vice Chancellor of IBB University, Lapai, Professor Nasiru Maturate who spoke on “The Bago administration’s policy legacy, a review of progress and potential for a New Niger.
The two speakers urged the Governor to remain focus on his transformation drive and should not allow himself to be detracted by anyone.
