NIDO Africa set for exportation of Nigerian goods

As a step forward in its fight against human trafficking, the Nigerian In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO Africa) is set to embark on the exportation of Nigerian goods to other African countries.

Speaking at the Made-in-Nigeria export promotion seminar and exhibition in Lagos recently and attended by over 20 Micro, Small and Medium Scale (MSMSE) companies interested in the export market, Prof. Jude Osakwe, continental chairman, NIDO Africa, stated that his organisation was prepared to expose Nigerian manufacturers to opportunities in other parts of the world, beginning from Africa. “By so doing, we are creating a marketing structure alongside an enabling environment for farmers to export their farm produce and manufacturing products to other African countries,” he said.

Osakwe reiterated that NIDO Africa is shifting focus from its constant war against human trafficking involving young girls, adding that the export promotion initiative is aimed at deepening the African Continental free Trade Area (ACfTA). According to him, the seminar – featuring training and sharing of experiences by export consultants, government officials and representatives of Sterling Bank Plc – is not only about interaction, but implementation and deepening of participants’ knowledge and expertise in the business.

The NIDO Africa boss affirmed that business will commence immediately and the first point of call is Senegal, followed by Cote d’Ivoire – both francophone countries with a sizable number of Nigerian population – and from there, it would spread to other parts of the continent.
