The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) is set to re-introduce the Code of Conduct for players of the senior national teams, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons.

A top source within the football house revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) will mandate their legal department to produce an instrument that will set the standard for the conduct of players on national team assignments without infringing on their rights.

It should be stated however that the Code of Conduct is not a new idea. It has been in use in the past before it was jettisoned.  Recent happenings have launched a strong case for its re-introduction.

According to the source, “the Code will outline how players’ complaints and grievances are to be addressed and resolved while setting the standard for the conduct of players, coaches and the officials when on international assignments.

“All players(both men and women)invited to the national team for any international competition will be sent the Code of Conduct document along with their invitation letters which they will be advised to peruse with their lawyers or representatives before honouring the call ups.

This is to make them aware of the conduct required of them and also ensure their rights are not infringed upon.

It is meant to enforce discipline and adherence to the rules.

“It is a global practice. The players are used to it in their clubs and many national teams also have such guidelines in place so we are re-introducing same,” the source added.
