Borno State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Abdulmajid, has assured News Central Television of the command’s full support and commitment to ensuring the safety of all participants ahead of the station’s upcoming town hall meeting in Maiduguri.

The assurance was given during a visit by News Central’s Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Kayode Akintemi, who led a delegation of senior professionals to the Borno State Police Headquarters, yesterday.

The high-level engagement was aimed at reinforcing the partnership between the media and law enforcement in promoting peace, security and community trust.

Abdulmajid reiterated the police command’s readiness to provide the necessary security framework for the town hall meeting and praised News Central’s initiative in convening such a dialogue platform. He highlighted the importance of transparency and cooperation in strengthening public confidence in both the media and law enforcement.

The visit comes in preparation for the station’s town hall meeting, slated for today, June 19, in Maiduguri. The event is expected to draw key stakeholders from government, security agencies, civil society and the general public to deliberate on critical issues surrounding peace and development in the region.

During the meeting, Akintemi and his team held constructive discussions with the commissioner and senior police officers, focusing on media-police collaboration in public awareness, crisis communication and community engagement. Both parties acknowledged the need for stronger synergy to foster an informed and secure society.

Akintemi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged News Central’s continued commitment to responsible journalism and national development. He noted that collaborative efforts with security agencies are crucial to achieving long-term peace and social progress in Borno and across Nigeria.
