- New Theatre Commander pledges to boost counter-terrorism war

The new Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Maj Gen Waidi Shuaibu, has pledged to step up the operation against terrorists and insurgents in the area.
Waidi made the pledge on Tuesday at the theatre command headquarters in Maiduguri after taking over as the command.
“Coming to the theatre is to serve. My role basically is to organise the officers and men of the command to increase the tempo of our operations against the insurgents,” Waidi said.
Gen Waidi was a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) Nigerian Army 7 Division Maiduguri
Meanwhile, the outgoing Theatre Commander, Maj Gen Gold Chibuisi said he handed over the Command to Waidi with the “highest sense of duty” having served in the theatre for six months.
He thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Chief for giving him the opportunity to serve
He urged troops to extend similar cooperation given to him also to his successor to succeed.
