Founder of Skooqs, Oluwadamilola Ojo, has officially unveiled a skills training institute and digital academy, SKOOQS CITY, in Lagos.
Located in the Ogba area of Lagos, the academy is designed to equip young Africans with the needed skills for their future growth and development.
SKOOQS CITY was established in partnership with TCKZone to bridge the gap between traditional education and the demands of the 21st century workforce.
Speaking at the grand opening, Ojo reflected on the journey and the vision behind the project, saying, “For me, this is a deeply personal dream; a vision that began years ago when I realised the transformative power of skills-based learning. SKOOQS CITY isn’t just a facility; it’s a space for the young people to learn, create, and thrive. It’s a place, where potential becomes reality, and where no one is left behind, regardless of the background or barriers.”
The centre, according to her, is equipped with cutting-edge training facilities, digital labs, and even a hostel for residential students to ensure access and convenience for learners from all backgrounds. “This institute will offer programmes in coding, entrepreneurship, design, and hands-on vocational skills, empowering students to turn knowledge into action.
“Our goal is simple and that is to bridge the gap between education and employability while fostering a generation of innovators and problem solvers.”
The unveiling ceremony was attended by education stakeholders, corporate partners, including the Director of Basic Science and Technology, Dr. Grace Olayibo Akinfoyewa, who represented the Lagos State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education; Supervisor of Education, Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Olarewaju Oladayo Isaac, who represented the Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area; Director of Education, Mrs. Adegbile, who represented the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, and Head of Partnerships TCKZone, Dr. Olusola Adenekan among others.
