Moved by losses that Nigerians may suffer at the expiration of deadline issued for the redesigning  of Naira notes, the Eze Ndigbo Ifako Ijaye, Eze Michael Ezewobi (Oyioma latu Ndigbo gba gburugburu) has appealed to The Federal Government and the CBN to extend the deadline by at least one month.

In a statement, the RoyalFather said unless such grace period was given, many people especially those in the rural areas may lose their hard earned money to the exercise.

Eze Ezekwobi recalled that in 1984 when similar exercise was done under General Muhammadu Buhari, who was then the military head of state, he lost N20,000 because of short period of time given then to change the old naira notes.

On likely advantages of the exercise, Ezekwobi said if we’ll implemented, it could reduce inflation as well as address the problem of cash hoarding.

On oil theft which is affecting the economy, Ezekwobi urged the Finance Ministry to come out with action plan by diversifying the economy away from oil, to other viable sectors like agriculture and solid minerals.

He also called on the Federal Government to complete and commission the 2nd Niger Bridge so as to ease traffic congestion often experienced on that road during Yuletide.
