A new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered travel platform has been launched to eliminate physical queues associated with airline ticket bookings in Nigeria.

The platform, unveiled on Monday by Safety Travels Ltd, enables passengers to make flight reservations remotely, while also providing access to hotel and car-hire services through its networked backend.

The technology connects with multiple airlines, as well as global hotel and car-hire partners, in a bid to provide travellers with a more convenient and seamless booking experience.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja during the launch, Chairman of Safety Travels Ltd, Hon. Chidi Nwogu, said the technology will significantly change the way travellers access booking services in Nigeria.

Nwogu explained that the platform was designed to address longstanding challenges associated with conventional ticket booking, particularly the time passengers spend visiting airline offices.

He said prospective passengers would be able to complete their flight bookings from the comfort of their homes or offices, reducing the need for physical visits to airline offices.

According to him, the technology would not only save travellers time but also provide a more convenient and efficient way of accessing travel services.

“For decades, passengers have endured hours spent in physical queues at airline offices, often sacrificing an entire day just to book a simple flight. With this technology, that era is coming to an end,” Nwogu said.

Also speaking, the General Manager of Safety Travels Ltd, Mr Joseph Agofure, said the platform was expected to improve service delivery while providing customers with a more seamless booking experience.

Agofure said the integration of airlines and other travel-related service providers would enable customers to access flight reservations alongside hotel and car-hire services through the platform.

He added that the Al assistant is already live on its website, while an updated mobile application containing the new features is currently being uploaded.
