The 3MTT South-West Innovation Hackathon concluded with the selection of NEVO, an AI-powered personalised learning platform, as the first-place winner of the regional competition.

The event which took place on the 9th December 2025, organised under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, brought together emerging technologists to develop practical solutions addressing local educational and digital-inclusion challenges.

NEVO’s solution uses adaptive assessment, structured learning paths and real-time analytics to identify a child’s learning pattern and support students with diverse learning needs, including neurodivergent tendencies. The platform is designed to provide tailored content aligned with each learner’s pace and cognitive profile, with accompanying dashboards for parents and educators to monitor progress.

Throughout the hackathon sprint, participating teams worked alongside assigned technical mentors, including industry practitioners who supported product refinement, workflow clarity and prototype development. The NEVO team received guidance from mentor Joshua Aaron, whose role involved providing technical direction and helping shape the architecture and user-journey flow of the platform.

Judges at the final showcase highlighted NEVO’s clear problem definition, technical feasibility and potential for impact within Nigeria’s basic education landscape. The platform’s structured implementation approach and user-centred design contributed to its selection as the winning entry.

The 3MTT South-West Innovation Hackathon forms part of the national programme’s broader effort to strengthen talent development and encourage practical digital innovation across the country. The success of NEVO reflects the programme’s aim of enabling emerging engineers and digital practitioners to build functional, scalable solutions that address real community needs.
