In a bid to strengthen security and operational efficiency, the Assistant Controller General (ACG) of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) Zone A Command, Opeyemi Fatiniku, has called for enhanced collaboration with the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army.
ACG Fatiniku made the request during a visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, at the division’s headquarters in Lagos. He commended the Nigerian Army, particularly the 81 Division, for its continued support in ensuring the security of correctional facilities across Lagos and Ogun states. According to him, a stronger partnership would enhance intelligence gathering and sharing, ultimately creating a safer environment for both correctional staff and inmates.
In response, Major General Mijinyawa reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting the NCS, noting that troops deployed to correctional centers within the division’s jurisdiction remain on high alert to address any security challenges. He lauded ACG Fatiniku’s proactive approach and welcomed further collaboration.
Similarly, the Nigerian Breweries (NB) has also expressed interest in strengthening its relationship with the 81 Division. The company’s Lagos Brewery Manager, Mr. Nduka Nnabuihe, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the GOC, where he emphasized the need for enhanced security cooperation to ensure the safety of employees and stakeholders.
Major General Mijinyawa, in his response, commended Nigerian Breweries for its longstanding partnership with the Army and pledged continued support.
The visits concluded with the signing of the visitor’s book, an exchange of commemorative plaques, and group photographs.
