The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr. Charles Ebuebu, has congratulated Senior High Chief Tony Akiotu on his election as the new Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
Akiotu’s emergence followed an election that took place during the organisation’s biennial proceedings in Abuja on Wednesday, April 8.
The DG commended BON and its member stations for conducting a seamless and peaceful election during the 81st Annual General Meeting.
He, specifically, noted the absence of hitches or rancour, praising all contestants for the high level of sportsmanship displayed throughout the process.
Ebuebu noted that NBC is eager to collaborate with the newly elected executive team and the broader BON membership, especially as the commission continues the process of digitising the nation’s broadcast ecosystem.
He noted that this partnership aims to enhance industry standards by elevating the quality of local broadcasting, enhance global competitiveness by ensuring the Nigerian broadcast ecosystem secures its rightful place in the international market, and achieve regulatory synergy by fostering a productive relationship between the regulator and broadcasters.
He extended his best wishes to the new leadership for a successful and impactful tenure.
