NB@80: 80 Nigerians to Win N1m each

Nigerian Breweries Plc’

Nigerian Breweries Plc has launched activities to mark its 80th anniversary, offering 80 Nigerians N1 million each for sharing photographs and videos that capture their connections with the company and its brands over the years.

The anniversary campaign, tagged “Together, Every Moment,” was launched on September 21, with the brewer calling on Nigerians at home and abroad to search their family albums, personal archives and phone galleries for memories linked to the company.

The initiative is designed to document how Nigerian Breweries, its brands, employees, investments and business activities have featured in the lives of Nigerians over the past eight decades.

The company said the memories could include weddings, graduations, family gatherings, sporting celebrations and other social events where its brands featured.

It also invited farmers, distributors, retailers, suppliers, transporters, employees and members of host communities to share stories showing how their businesses, livelihoods and communities have evolved alongside Nigerian Breweries.

Speaking on the campaign, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Breweries, Thibaut Boidin, said the anniversary should focus on the people who helped shape the company’s journey rather than the company alone.

“An 80th anniversary can easily become a company talking about itself. That would miss the point,” Boidin said.

He said Nigerians had welcomed the company’s brands into their celebrations, businesses, traditions and everyday lives, adding that the anniversary campaign would give such experiences a national platform.

Boidin said 80 memories would be selected from the entries, with each winner receiving N1 million, in addition to other prizes.

He added that selected stories would feature in the company’s anniversary films, editorial features, social media campaigns, outdoor displays, commemorative events and archive.

The company said participation is free and entries can be submitted through its anniversary platform or social media using the hashtag #NB@80.

Entries opened on September 21 and will close on October 31, while the 80 winning stories are scheduled to be announced on November 16.

Nigerian Breweries was incorporated in 1946, while its first bottle of Star Lager beer rolled off its Lagos Brewery bottling line in June 1949.
