All is set for the 5th FOC West Boat Race billed for the water front of the Navy Sailing Club on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Assurances for a smooth ceremony was given during the week by the chairman of the organizing committee for the event, Babafemi Osunubi at the club premises located inside Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos.
“The committee has made all necessary arrangement for a hitch free Boat Race in honour of the FOC West, Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai who is keeping to the tradition of hosting the race. The athletes are ready and the club members are looking forward to having a wonderful time.”
On the race day, athletes will compete in GP14 and Laser events with athletes from different Naval formations around the country. There will also be competition in kayak as for adult and children respectively.
Club Commodore, DCP Simon Mayaki (Rtd) also assured of the club’s readiness to host the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command to a grand event come Saturday.
“As you can see that activities are geared towards the event for Saturday and note that as always safety of the athletes is key to us. To ensure that nothing is left to chance, there will be safety boats on standby as well as divers for rescue operations.”
