NASS Leadership: Alia congratulates Akpabio, Abbas

Benue state Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has congratulated the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, and the member representing Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, over their election as Senate President and Speaker of the 10th National Assembly respectively.

The governor also congratulated all the National Assembly members, especially those from Benue State, on their inauguration.

Alia said that as a trained lawyer with a stint in the telecom sector, a two term Governor of Akwa Ibom state, a former Minority Leader of the Senate and a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Akpabio has all the experience and the capability to steer the affairs of the newly inaugurated Senate.

He also noted that Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, who was elected as the Speaker of the House of representatives, stood out as the most experienced legislator for he has been a member of the House of Representatives from 2011 till date and has sponsored a record-breaking 74 bills out of which 21 were signed into law, and has also served as a member of more than seven committees in the House including Commerce, Finance, Defence and Public Procurement.

He stated that the emergence of the experienced legislators as principal officers in the two independent chambers will surely add value to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as there promises to be synergy between all the arms of government to make a better Nigeria.

The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, called on the newly inaugurated members of the National Assembly from Benue State, whom he describes as partners in the Benue project, to give their best as representatives of the people, to make Benue State a better place for all.
