Nasirul-Lahi Fathir Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) has taken it maiden free medical outreach to the Emir of Gwandu palace where they targeted about 1,000 patients.
The society which kicked off the medical exercise at the weekend, with volunteer Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists ,Laboratory scientists, have started checking patients on various ailment such as blood sugar level, malarial, BMI, free medical consultations, drugs for common illness and counseling talk on hard drugs and mental health.
While declaring the outreach opening, the Chairman of the Society, Birnin Kebbi branch, Alhaji Ismail Suleiman explained that the society decided to organize the event to render part of their social responsibilities to the society especially during the hardship period and few days to the commencement of Ramadan fasting.

According to him,“ NASFAT is an Islamic organization that has some core values. Among our core values is one which we tagged to be healthy. So, health is wealthy, when somebody is healthy, such person would be able to serve his God, contribute positively to the society, and you will be able to achieve your goals in life.
“ That is why we decided to dwell into health issue in NASFAT. Also in education, whoever that is not informed, such person is in darkness. In Islam, education is power, education is light. In view of this, we dwell into education as well. In livelihood, empowerment of people is very important and that is why we are empowering a lot of people. We do purchased JAMB forms for the youths, teaching people vocational skills and many other skills so that they could be self reliant to feed themselves”.
Suleiman noted that once the people are healthy, have sound education and empowered, they would be able to contribute to the propagation of religion stressed that the medical outreach was timely because many people don’t have enough money to go the hospital for checking up.
“Meanwhile, many people are suffering from a lot of ailments. We decided to give back to the society; we organize this outreach to give back to at least 500 or 1,000 people in the community. We have a lot of drugs on ground for BP, sugar level, malarial and other ailments. We have six medical doctors on ground attending to the people, Nurses, pharmacists and other health personnel’s are on ground to ensure that all the patients were attended to”.
He added that, any patient whose ailment could not be attended to would be referring to appropriate hospital for treatment.
Suleiman who said that the exercise would be continue frequently said that any youth who were detected to be engaging in drug abuse shall be properly counsel while other who need financial support to further their medical treatment shall be assisted by the society.
Earlier, women leader of the society, Hajiya Maryam Bature noted that the women turned out for the outreach were impressive, said many of them have been treated, given necessary drugs and necessary counseling.
A patient at the outreach, Hajiya Husaina Haruna Rasheed commended the society for organized the medical outreach at the period when people are struggle to find their daily meals, stressed that she was impressed by the doctors and nurses who attended to her and other patients at the outreach.
A male patient, Mallam Yakubu Yushau also commended the society for the medical outreach stressed that he was able to get free medical tests for his BM, sugar level and doctors have prescribed drugs he would be taking regularly.
