The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly,  Danladi Jatau, yesterday, met with chairmen of the 13 local government areas of the state, in order to find lasting solutions to security challenges experienced across the state.

The Speaker, while addressing the LG chairmen in his office, in Lafia, said he was directed by Governor Abdullahi Sule to discuss with the LG chairmen on how to find lasting solutions to the security challenges facing their local government areas.

“I was given the mandate by His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, when he called us for a state security meeting on the 15th of this month.

The insecurity challenges such as kidnapping, communal clashes and armed robbery, among other social vices, have increased recently.

“Before now, we have been enjoying relative peace in the state. I call on you for us to collectively discuss on how to find solutions to security challenges in our areas.”

The Speaker, while commending the Nasarawa state government on its pro-activeness in tackling insecurity and promoting peace in the state, said:

“Governor Abdullahi Sule is a man of peace and is working hard to ensure that people enjoy peace in the state, as no development will take place without peace. Security is everybody’s business, let’s put our heads together.”

The Speaker called on the people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of their affiliations.

“Let all continue to live in peace and tolerate one another as God did not make a mistake in creating us, irrespective of our tribe and religious backgrounds,” he added.

Jatau, while sympathising with the people of Katakpa and its surrounding in Toto LG over attack in their community, appealed to trouble makers in Toto LGA to seize fire for peace to reign.

Responding, the State AlGON Chairman and Chairman Lafia LG, Aminu Muazu Maifata,  appreciated the House for the good relationship between them. Maifata, who is also the ALGON National President, appreciated governor Sule for always coming to the aid of the local government areas in the state, especially in the area of insecurity.

“Rt. Hon. Speaker, we are grateful for your support and guidance. We will not let you and the state down,” he said.

The ALGON chairman said security is capital intensive while calling for more security funding for the LGAs in the state.
