Police operatives in Nasarawa State have neutralised three suspected kidnappers, arrested one, rescued a victim, and recovered firearm and ammunition.
According to a press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Ramhan Nansel, the police received information on April 13, 2023, that suspected kidnappers blocked the Assakio-Sabon Gida road in Lafia East Development Area of Lafia LGA and kidnapped one Ezekiel Luka of Taraba State.
Reacting promptly, police operatives attached to Assakio Division, led by SP Ekoja Elaigu, launched a manhunt for the abductors.
“On April 14, 2023, at about 14:00hrs, the police operatives came in contact with the kidnappers where a gun duel ensued. Three suspected kidnappers were neutralised, and the victim was rescued unhurt. One kidnapper, Friday Orshio of Gidan Adamu, Assakio, Lafia East Development Area was arrested.”
In addition, the police recovered one locally-fabricated revolver gun and seven rounds of 6.72mm ammunition from the suspects as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, commended the officers for their excellent work and urged them to sustain the tempo and rid the state of criminals.
