In response to escalating armed robberies along the Doma-Rukubi Road of Ekye Development Area in Doma LGA, the Nasarawa State Police Command orchestrated a strategic operation resulting in the arrest of two suspects donning military attire.
Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, underscored the imperative of relentless efforts in combatting criminal activities.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, released the statement on Saturday behalf of the Commissioner of Police, noting that it was as a result of Prompted recurrent complaints of armed robberies, particularly on Thursday nights, the Nasarawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Umar Shehu Nadada, initiated proactive measures to address the menace.
He said the operation culminated in a successful ambush by police operatives from the Ekye Division at Kwanar Kare, a notorious spot along the Doma-Rukubi Road frequently besieged by armed bandits.
He further said Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, both residents of Rugan Maigari, Rukubi village, were apprehended in the act while posing as military personnel. Confiscated from the suspects were three hundred thousand naira in cash, a knife, and assorted incriminating items.
Further investigations revealed their involvement in a previous robbery where they relieved Mallam Barka of five hundred thousand naira at the same location.
Expressing satisfaction with the proactive stance of the command, CP Umar Shehu Nadada commended the diligence of the officers and urged for sustained vigilance in curbing criminal activities within the state.
CP Umar Shehu Nadada reiterated, “The Nasarawa State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents. We will continue to deploy all necessary resources and strategies to rid our communities of criminal elements.”
