Nasarawa police command confirmed release of Akwanga council boss from abductors

The Chairman Of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mr Safiyanu Isa Andaha, has been released by his abductors.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a text message to Daily Sun said the release of the council chairman followed sustained pressure on the kidnappers and they were left with no other option than to set the victims free.

DSP Ramhan Nansel stated that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the council chairman including the three other persons who were with him when they were abducted by the gunmen.

He explained that the Command’s Anti-Kidnaping unit and Akwanga Divisional Patrol team had been deployed to Andaha village to convey the kidnap victims to Akwanga for medical examination before reuniting them with their families.

Recall that Sun had reported that the Akwanga Local Government Council Chairman Mr Safiyanu Isa was kidnapped by gunmen together with three other persons at about 8:30 in the evening of 1st January 2024 at Ningo village along Andaha road in Akwanga local government area of Nasarawa State.
