The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has embarked on a statewide thank-you tour across the 13 local government areas to express appreciation to its members and reaffirm its commitment to transparent leadership and internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Led by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Adamu Bako Ningha, the tour aims to foster unity, strengthen internal structures, and engage stakeholders as part of efforts to reposition the party for future electoral victories.

Speaking during the visit to Awe Local Government Area in Nasarawa Southern Zone of the state, Ningha assured party members that the PDP under his leadership will run an all-inclusive administration that provides a level playing field for all aspirants in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

“We are here to appreciate our people for the mandate given to us. It is also an opportunity to deepen engagement with stakeholders and assure our members that the party will uphold the principles of fairness and equity,” Ningha said.

He reiterated the party’s resolve to avoid imposition of candidates, promising transparent primaries that reflect the true will of the people.

In his remarks during a courtesy visit to his palace, the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar-Umar, cautioned political parties against imposition of candidates in the 2027 general elections, warning that such actions could weaken democracy and erode public confidence in the electoral process.

“The imposition of candidates can undermine the democratic process, potentially leading to political apathy,” the monarch said.

He added, “Such actions can create intra-party disputes and diminish trust among the electorate. We must allow for transparent and inclusive primaries to ensure that leaders truly emerge from the people.”

The traditional ruler stressed that genuine representation stems from credible leadership that reflects the collective will of the people, urging all political actors to respect democratic values.

The PDP delegation also visited the palaces of the Osana of Keana, Dr. Abdullahi Amegba-Agbo in Keana LGA, and the Osuko of Obi, Dangiwa Orume in Obi LGA, where similar engagements with party members and stakeholders were held.

According to reports, the tour is part of ongoing efforts by the newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) of the party to consolidate support and prepare the ground for a strong electoral showing in 2027.
