The Executive Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council, Alhaji Safiyanu Isah Andaha, and his close associate, Adamu Umar Tanko, fell victim to a kidnapping incident on Monday night, sparking grave concerns within the community.
The abduction occurred on the Akwanga – Andaha road, around 8:30pm, on Monday, in Ningo village.
Reliable sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers have demanded N50 million ransom, while negotiations between them and Andaha’s family were still ongoing at the time of this report.
Adamu Umar Tanko, also known as Adamu Custom, a renowned philanthropist, was abducted alongside the Akwanga council boss.
The Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu, confirmed the incident to journalists.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who corroborated the abduction, said law enforcement agencies, in and other security forces were actively engaged in pursuit operations to secure the safe release of the victims.
