First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Directorate of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has intensified grassroots mobilisation in Nasarawa State, combining political engagement with humanitarian outreach, market visits and the empowerment of 1,000 women.

Co-director of the Directorate, Dr. Betta Edu, said: “There is no other valid option to APC in Nasarawa or Nigeria, so everyone should vote APC come 2027 general election.”

She emphasised the strategic importance of women in grassroots politics, describing them as a formidable force in shaping electoral outcomes and sustaining democratic participation.

She urged APC women across Nasarawa State to intensify mobilisation at the ward, community and local government levels, taking the party’s message to markets, homes and rural communities.

The directorate visited the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, on behalf of  Oluremi Tinubu, where members engaged with patients, healthcare workers and other stakeholders, reaffirming the importance of accessible healthcare and compassionate support for vulnerable groups. It is also visited the Women Modern Market in Lafia, engaging traders and market women on the economic policies and empowerment initiatives of the Tinubu administration.

The engagement provided opportunity to connect directly with grassroots women, listen to their concerns and encourage their participation in the democratic process.

The outreach further featured an empowerment initiative for women, aimed at supporting livelihoods, strengthening economic inclusion, and improving the welfare of women across communities.

Edu noted that economic empowerment, financial inclusion, healthcare, education, and social protection has been central to improving the welfare and livelihoods of Nigerian women in the last three years.

She commended First Lady for her impactful interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing the programme as a demonstration of compassionate leadership and commitment to women’s economic empowerment.

She highlighted the RHI’s interventions in Nasarawa State, where 500 vulnerable women received household empowerment items, including deep freezers, gas cookers, ovens, grinding machines, and generators to support their livelihoods and small businesses.

The initiative also provided ₦50,000 business grants to 500 women traders across the state’s 13 local government areas in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

More than 500 women also benefited from dry-season agricultural training, while 250 persons living with disabilities received ₦200,000 each to support small businesses and strengthen economic independence.

According to Dr. Edu, the interventions by President Tinubu and the First Lady demonstrate a commitment to improving women’s livelihoods, promoting self-reliance and expanding opportunities for vulnerable groups.

She called on APC women in Nasarawa to sustain their support for the Renewed Hope Agenda through unity, voter education and effective grassroots engagement, stressing that the achievements of the administration must be communicated effectively to communities to encourage greater participation in the democratic process.

Dr. Edu further urged women to translate their political enthusiasm into active participation and votes in the 2027 general elections, noting that women remain central to the APC’s grassroots strength and electoral success.

The Lafia rally and accompanying humanitarian and empowerment activities form part of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s nationwide mobilisation efforts to consolidate grassroots structures and strengthen support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The participation of Dr Betta Edu and other members of the Women Mobilisation Directorate underscores the party’s commitment to placing women at the forefront of grassroots engagement, humanitarian outreach and mobilisation ahead 2027 general elections.
