NAPTAN urges Makinde, security agencies to ensure timely release of kidnapped Oyo teachers, students

The National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has called on the Oyo State government and all security agencies in the country to ensure the timely release of the teachers and students adopted by gunmen in Esiele, Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

NAPTAN which is the umbrella body of parents of all public and private school students in the country also urged the government at all levels to beef up security in all public and private schools in the country.

The National Publicity Secretary of the association, Dr Ademola Ekundayo in a statement released on Sunday condemned the recent attacks on schools in the country and called for urgent government intervention to put an end to the ugly occurrence.

Dr Ekundayo who conveyed the association’s condolences to the government and people of Oyo State urged the Oyo State government to collaborate with security agencies to ensure the timely release of the kidnapped victims who are currently in the custody of their abductors.

He specifically called on Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to intensify efforts at ensuring security of all the pupils and students of public and private primary and secondary schools in the state, stressing that the current level of insecurity in the country calls for serious attention.

While condemning the attack on the Community High School Eseile, the NAPTAN boss recalled the recent attack on the teachers and students of a government owned school in Kebbi State, calling on the Federal Ministry of Education to initiate a stakeholders summit to address the situation.

He assured that the parents are ready to join hands with the government to fight insecurity on all the schools, just as he called on the state and federal governments to carry the parents along in their war against insecurity in the country and schools in particular.

While calling on all parents in the country to pray for the release of the kidnapped victims, Ekundayo also called on schools management to monitor the activities of people around their schools henceforth.
