The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) is weighed down by huge debt owed by state government airports, it’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Fola Akinkuotu has said.
Akinkuotu, who stated this recently at a meeting with top managers of the agency, urged Airspace Managers at such airports to engage more with such state officials on modalities of payment just as he charged them to explore ways of generating non-aeronautical
revenue. He also charged Airspace Managers to ensure that navigational aids in their different areas of supervision are serviceable at all times even as he revealed plans by the agency to replace old navigational aids with modern ones in some strategic areas across the country.
Akwa Ibom, Delta, Jigawa are some of the states operating their own airports and relying on navigational aids and information supplied by NAMA. Akinkuotu said Airspace Managers across Nigerian Airports must also ensure strict and unhindered compliance to the implementation of the Federal Government Executive Orders recently issued by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in their various domains.
