The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival have agreed to collaborate towards the successful organisation of the motor rally aspect of this year’s event.

This was agreed recently when the NADDC hosted a delegation from the festival organisers, led by Dr. Suleiman Muhammad, who is the national oganising secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and chairman of the festival’s Motor Rally Committee, at the NADDC headquarters in Abuja.

During the meeting, Dr. Suleiman emphasized the importance of collaboration with NADDC  to ensure the success of the event.

He said, “We cannot do this alone and we certainly cannot do it without partnership with you. That is why we are here to engage, to seek your full participation, and to request your support for a smooth take-off of the Motor Rally from Abuja to Argungu. We also appeal to other relevant agencies and the automobile industry across the country to actively participate in this initiative.”

Responding, NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, expressed appreciation for the visit and the invitation to be part of the historic festival, which dates back to 1934, also serving as a symbol of unity and cultural pride in Nigeria.

“We are delighted that the Argungu Festival has expanded beyond fishing to include a Motor Rally a significant addition that contributes to national development. This aligns with our mandate to promote the automotive sector in Nigeria, and we are fully committed to supporting initiatives that drive automotive growth and innovation,” said Osanipin.

The usual inclusion of a motor rally in the Argungu Fishing Festival highlights the potential for automotive investment and development in Nigeria.
