The Concerned Niger Delta Progressive Forum (CNDPF) has poured encomiums on the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for the giant infrastructural, social and economic development strides recorded by the state during his eight-year tenure.
The group in a statement jointly signed by its leaders, Chief Samson Ifeanyi Smith (chairman) and Sir William G. Brown (Secretary), praised the former governor for his sterling achievements in the development of the state, which put it on a high pedestal in terms of good governance.
The group said it came to such conclusion after undertaking a fact-finding tour across the state, to see things for themselves and appraise the performance of all the present and former governors in the region.
CNDPF said it was overwhelmed by the way the former governor changed the face of Akwa Ibom State, turning it into an alluring tourist attraction drawing visitors from across the world. The group said right from Oron Road to Airport and the entire axis, the former administration completely changed the look of the area, making the city a delightful place for all.
The group said the state-owned airline, Ibom Air, is a signature project that has continued to elicit joy among the people and visitors to the state. It commended Emmanuel for the smart building in Uyo, which it described as the first of its kind by any past and present state government in Nigeria.
“We are happy to see the level of transformation. The state is so secure that most Nigerians are relocating from other regions to live and work in the state. Udom Emmanuel is the only governor that has built working industries, which have attracted foreigners to invest in the state.
“Our visits to the syringe manufacturing company, the flour mills and other facilities have given us hope that the region would grow and thrive on account of the foundation laid by Mr Emmanuel. He is a pride to people of the South South. We thank him for orchestrating a peaceful transition to Pastor Bassey Umo Eno,” the group said.
