The immediate past President General of Amichi Development Union (ADU), Nnewi South Local Government Area, Chief Cletus Udebuani, has cried out over an alleged consistent threat to his life by some powerful forces from the community, following his stellar performance and account of stewardship which he rendered and handed over to the government appointed caretaker committee.

Udebuani, in a Save our Soul distress statement issued in Awka, yesterday, made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji  Disu, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police and the Nnewi South Local Government Authority, and called for their urgent intervention over an alleged escalating security threat to his life and the attempt to truncate the development of Amichi community.

He claimed that the offence that has put his life in danger presently was because he brought development to his community as a President General to the discomfiture of some people (other names withheld).

“I can no longer come back to Amichi, my town, for fear of being attacked. My life is in danger. My name, dignity and integrity has been constantly subjected to public ridicule by the BOT through their spokesperson.

“I am a law-abiding citizen who only brought development to my town. I call on President Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly, and the Inspector General of Police to protect me and to ensure that no one uses Federal might to oppress, intimidate, and silence a community leader.

“The major challenge I encountered was because I stood my ground and refused to be compromised by those who wanted to hijack the development of the Amichi community and turn the market project into a private estate,” he alleged.

When contacted for comments, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, advised the community members to maintain peace at all times. He urged Udebuani to forward a formal petition to the state command if his life was under threat, so that the police could activate action.
