Adeniyi adeyemi , self-acclaimed director-general of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has raised the alarm that his life is under threat, calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene by setting up an independent panel to investigate the controversy surrounding the council.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adeyemi claimed that unidentified persons had repeatedly visited his aged parents’ residence in an apparent attempt to locate him, a situation he described as an act of intimidation.
“My life is in danger, and I mean what I am saying,” Adeyemi declared during the programme.
According to him, unknown young men visited his parents’ home about 30 times within three days, often at odd hours, claiming they were searching for an individual identified as “Adebayo.” He said the repeated visits had left his elderly parents distressed and living in fear.
“Imagine my aged parents. They are under tension,” he said, questioning why authorities had not formally invited him if they genuinely intended to question him.
“If truly they want me, why can’t they invite me?” he asked.
Adeyemi alleged that the repeated visits were designed to coerce and intimidate him into silence, insisting that he had done nothing wrong.
“They are just trying to coerce me,” he alleged.
He maintained that the only way to resolve the controversy was through an independent investigation, arguing that such a panel should comprise representatives of international organisations and civil society groups to guarantee neutrality.
“Let an independent panel put end to all of this,” he appealed.
Adeyemi also denied allegations that he was a fraudster, insisting that an impartial investigation would determine the facts.

“I am not a con artist. The independent panel will unravel the truth and say whether I am wrong or I am right.”
He further stated that he was prepared to face the consequences of the law should he be found culpable.
“I am ready to bear the wrath of the law,” he added.
Adeyemi accused unnamed individuals of attempting to silence him through intimidation but vowed not to be deterred.
“They want to silence me by fire, by force, and I will not be silenced,” he said.
He also argued that the conflicting claims surrounding the PFIPC had become an embarrassment to the Presidency and the country, urging President Tinubu to personally intervene.
“They should stop embarrassing Mr. President and Nigerians at large with all these issues. Let Mr. President please constitute an independent panel to unravel the issue,” he said.`
Adeyemi urged Nigerians to allow facts and documentary evidence to determine the outcome of the controversy rather than public accusations.
“Nigerians should put forth facts and documents, not propaganda. Let the truth be known to the world,” he said.
Adeyemi dismissed suggestions that he was hiding, saying he remained ready to appear publicly despite the risks.
The Federal Government has maintained that the PFIPC has no legal standing and has filed criminal charges against Adeyemi over allegations including forgery, impersonation and related offences. The matter is before the Federal High Court for determination.
President Bola Tinubu had asked the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter, but Adeyemi said since the agency is part of the government, it would be unfair to have it probe the matter.
