Muslim group advocates youth reformation for better Nigeria

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation (Majlis Khuddam Ahmadiyya Nigeria, MKAN) has called for urgent youth reformation to curb rising crime and foster nationalism in Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, April 16, ahead of MKAN’s 51st annual Ijtema at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State, acting national president Idris Fashina expressed concern over youths entering politics to “steal” rather than drive change. A nation cannot be formed without the reformation of the youth, he noted.

The convention, themed “Our Pledge, Our Responsibility”, will host delegates from the Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, and beyond to address social vices. It aims to nurture spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth among young Muslims.

Events include a free medical outreach on April 17 at Timi’s Palace in Ede, a public lecture on Islamic principles for social justice, and a symposium on April 19 focusing on leadership, education, entrepreneurship, and skills. Guests include NLC pioneer president Hassan Sunmonu and Governor Ademola Adeleke.
