US-based Nigerian musician, Emma Aguike, known professionally as Allah Bama, has issued a public apology to his colleagues in the music industry.
Aguike, a vocal supporter of Pretty Okafor, the president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), has reversed his stance, acknowledging that he was misled about the state of the union.
He admitted to supporting Okafor based on incomplete information, claiming he was unaware of the numerous challenges facing PMAN.
This comes months after PMAN’s National Working Committee (NWC), including prominent figures like Sunny Neji, Zaaki Azzay, Michael Stephen Ruggedman, and JFO Baba Ojonorgua, suspended Okafor.
The NWC cited alleged constitutional violations, financial mismanagement, and other offences.
However, the NWC members themselves were subsequently suspended by PMAN’s National Executive Council (NEC) for alleged misconduct and attempts to destabilize the organization.
In a detailed statement released to the press, Aguike expressed regret for his previous support of Okafor, stating that he had initially believed Okafor to be a positive force for PMAN.
He emphasized that he was deceived and lacked knowledge of the concerning issues surrounding Okafor’s presidency.
