…. It does not affect governance, gov’s aide

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship aspirant in Osun State, Dotun Babayemi, has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop running the affairs of the state from his hometown and move to the government house.

He posited that the state affairs should be run from the government house and not a resident has been experienced in Osun.

Since the assumption of office on November 27, 2022, Adeleke has been living in Ede, his hometown, claiming that the government house is under renovation.

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), had several times accused Adeleke of abandoning the government house.

Daily Sun gathered that the deputy governor, Kola Adewusi, the secretary to the state government, Teslim Igbalaye, and some others have moved to the government house upon completion of the renovation.

Speaking on a private radio in Ilesa, on Wednesday, Babayemi said Adeleke should listen to the people and stop running the affairs of the state from a private residence.

He said the people of the state have been saying loudly that the government house is located at the state capital and the governor should be living there.

“People have asked whether it is PDP we have in Osun or a party in one resident. Everybody in the state and the party voted for PDP, why should it be a side or a resident that should be controlling the benefit of the state?

“It is going to be a year now since the government started and the government house was built for the governor, I don’t know if that is where they are taking decisions now and we want the government to come to Osogbo. Since Osogbo is the capital and government house, government affairs must be controlled there.

“I urge Governor Ademola Adeleke to seek advice from the party elders, he should bring everybody together in the party and the state. In PDP, we have elders like ex-governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Shuaib Oyedokun, Senator Olu Alabi, Tajudeen Oladipo, Erelu Olusola Obada, what is the contribution of these elders to this government? They can’t be part of this government and things are going the way it is in the party today,” Babayemi said.

He maintained that he remains a member of the PDP irrespective of allegations of anti-party, blaming the leadership of the party for alleged discrimination.

The SSA Media to Governor Adeleke, Oladele Bamiji, said the renovation work is still ongoing at the governor’s residence, ence and living at a private residence or hometown does not affect governance.
