Midnight fire destroys shops, properties worth millions in Kano

Several shops belonging to traders in Gwarzo town of Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State have been gutted by fire, leading to the destruction of valuables worth millions of Naira.

The tragic incident which occurred Monday, left many victims in dire financial condition as many of them were spotted crying at the scene of the inferno, having lost their major source of livelihood.

Confirming the blaze, the spokesperson of Kano State Fire Service Saminu Abdullahi Sa’id, explained that it started at about midnight on Sunday and lasted to Monday morning, before his men could finally put off the fire

He stressed that dozens of shops were completely razed down by the inferno while properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed. He, however, said that there was no injury or loss of life on account of the incident.

One of the victims of the tragedy, Dayyabu Lawan Bala disclosed that he lost property worth millions including his shop.

He appealed to the state government and other well -to -do people in the state to come to their aid and help them minimize the loss.

Among the sympathizers were the member representing Gwarzo Federal Constituency, Abdulahi Muazu Babangandu who donated N500,000 to the victims of the fire and prayed allah to give them the grace to cope with the loss
