The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), the region’s oldest umbrella organisation representing the peoples of the Middle Belt since 1947, announced on Saturday that its highly anticipated Stakeholders Conference, slated for December 10 to 12 at Kini Country Guest Inn in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has been postponed.
In a formal notice signed by Central Organising Committee chairman Barrister Dan Ejembi, on behalf of MBF president Dr. Pogu Bitrus, the forum cited “unforeseen developments that require attention before the gathering can proceed.”
The statement expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and promised that a new date would be communicated to stakeholders in due course.
The conference was intended to chart a stronger, more unified future for the Middle Belt—a region encompassing the autochthonous ethnic nationalities of the former Northern Region that were not part of the Sokoto or Borno caliphates.

Communities from southern Kebbi, southern Borno, southern Bauchi, southern Kaduna, as well as the peoples of Gombe, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Niger and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were expected to attend.
MBF reaffirmed its commitment to engaging leaders, communities, and partners across the Middle Belt to consolidate unity, stability, and a coordinated agenda for the region’s future.
The postponement follows a period of heightened political activity in the region, with the forum aiming to present a united front on issues ranging from security to development.
The statement added that further details on the rescheduled conference will be released as they become available.
