The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has dissociated the church from the activities of one of their pastors in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, who was allegedly using the church premises to detain people in chains.
The pastor was alleged to have chained and held people hostage against their will, in the guise of conducting deliverance on them.
However, in a swift reaction, the church has dissociated itself from the activities of the pastor, saying that he was on his own, as the practice was not part of the church’s doctrines.
Director of Administration, MFM, Mr Akin Olawale, in a statement made available to Daily Sun, explained thus: “We, the leadership of MFM, received the information with a rude shock, as that behaviour is completely alien to our practice all over the world. Although the alleged pastor is one of our own, the said facility is a private property of his and the style of conducting such deliverance is not done with the knowledge nor approval of the church.
“In his response to our preliminary investigation, the pastor claimed that people who were brought to him for prayer against mental ailment and drug addiction usually had their guardians to sign an undertaking before they would be attended to.
“His defence, notwithstanding, we have immediately directed the said pastor to shut down the illegal facility being used in the name of the ministry and report to the headquarters for further actions.
“We are currently in touch with the relevant law enforcement agencies and family members whose children were chained, to ensure that the issues are properly addressed and justice served accordingly.”
