The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Aba, has called on the federal government to take a swift and decisive action in addressing on-going insecurity in Benue and Plateau, and other parts of the country.

Aba, who made the appeal during a briefing at Trinity Methodist Church, Lagos State, expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Plateau and Benue states.

He emphasised that the situation is intolerable and demands urgent intervention to halt the killings.

He condemned recent tragedies in the state, including the massacre of over 100 people, lamenting a growing societal disregard for the sanctity of human life.

“The problem I have with society is that nobody seems to be conscious of life anymore. When people are killed, we ask ‘how many?’ As if even one life lost doesn’t matter,” he said solemnly.

He reminded the congregation that Nigeria’s population is a strategic national asset, particularly in terms of economic relevance on the global stage. Every life, he insisted, is valuable and must be protected.

While affirming the role of the nation’s security agencies, Aba challenged citizens to take responsibility for the safety of their communities.

“Let us be assured that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Christ is risen, and because He lives, we can face tomorrow,” he stated.

He called on the church and Nigerians at large to pray fervently for the nation, especially in this critical time of political and economic uncertainty.
