Unhappy with the level of moral decadence in society, with many youths now involved in drug abuse, prostitution and Internet fraud, among others, a media and entertainment firm, Oscharlx, has conceived the idea of hosting a music talent show targeting teenagers.

The managing director of the outfit, Charles Osemene, at a briefing said the Naija Teen Star (NTS) is an online and TV reality show based on the concept that sources public opinion and votes to determine the show’s winner.

Osemene said successful participants will make it into the academy scheduled to hold in Lagos.

He said: “This is a first. Our teenage talent show, Naija Teen Star, will catch and groom them young. This is the only talent hunt show targeted at teenage creative talent.

“Our mission is to bring fun to the Nigerian audience and provide the right platform to the myriads of our teenagers and youths in Nigeria.

“We strongly believe in partnership with corporate organizations and well-meaning individuals as we are sure to have Africa’s first and the biggest teenage music reality TV show.

“We seek to push for success in life, society, school and develop future stars; to elicit capacity-building among the youths; increase the market shares of brands among the youths; provide a veritable platform for youths to interact, connect and identify with brands; contribute positively to the lives of our youths by influencing their psyche and redirecting their energy towards positive, constructive function and to promote the ‘catch them young’ culture employed in various sectors and developed countries.”

He said 10 participants chosen from each of the regions will perform live, with only one winner emerging and going home with N20 million, full scholarship, and one year’s recording deal.

“We are going to bring fun to the Nigerian audience and provide the right platform to the myriads of teenagers in Nigeria to showcase their God-given talents as early as possible in music. This indeed is a foray to catch them young,” he said.
