Kylian Mbappé will receive the 2024-25 Golden Boot this Friday in Madrid, an award recognising him as Europe’s top scorer last season.
The Real Madrid striker’s 31 league goals secured him the top spot ahead of Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
The ceremony will take place in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium starting at 1:30 p.m. The award is presented by ESM (European Sports Media), which is represented in Spain by MARCA.
The Golden Boot has been awarded since 1968 to the top scorer in European leagues, based on a points system weighted according to the coefficient of the different competitions.
The top five domestic leagues in Europe (Spain, England, Germany, France, and Italy) award two points per goal. Below them are a series of intermediate leagues that award 1.5 points per goal (for example, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, etc.). And finally, the remaining leagues award one point per goal scored.
