Mbah appoints new commissioners, board chairmen, senior officials

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the appointment of new commissioners, board chairmen, executive secretaries, and other senior officials as part of efforts to strengthen governance and service delivery in the state.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued, yesterday, by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia.

According to the statement, the governor appointed Barrister Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr. C. O. C. Egumgbe as Commissioners-designate, noting that their names have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation.

In other senior appointments, Kenechukwu Nnamani was named Managing Director, Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ENSIDA), while James Chukwuemeka Mbah was appointed Executive Secretary, Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board.

Also appointed are Dr. Eric Oluedo as Executive Secretary, Local Government Staff Pensions Board; Sylvia Onwubuemeli as Executive Secretary, Enugu State Library Board; and Monday Diamond Ani as State Coordinator, Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

The governor also approved the reconstitution of the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB). Members of the board include Afam Nnaji, Dr. Uche Eze, Dr. Oge Uka, Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje (Enugu West Senatorial District), Justina Ugwu (Enugu North Senatorial District), and Dr. Nnenna Ogbonna (Enugu East Senatorial District).

Other members are Theophilus Nweke, representing the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT); Juliet Ifesinachi Ani, representing State Women Groups; with Dr. Luke Ohabuenyi Ezema appointed as Secretary of the board.

Further appointments include Dr. Nneka Onyebuchi and Patrick Onwe as members of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB). Nwabueze Ugwu was appointed Chairman, Governing Council of the Enugu State College of Education Technical (ESCET), while Chief Nwabueze Nnamani emerged as Board Chairman, Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC).

In the transport and infrastructure sector, Richard Onaga was appointed Managing Director, Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA), while Bob Itanyi was named Managing Director, Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO).

Others include Richard Agu as Board Chairman, Enugu Air; USA Igwesi as Board Chairman, New Enugu Smart City Development Authority; Chika Igwesi as Chairman, Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency; and Chidera Odo as Chairman, Enugu State Roads Fund.

Also appointed are Manfred Nzekwe as Executive Secretary, Enugu State Roads Fund; Dr. John Egbo as Managing Director, Enugu East Zone Transport Terminals; Prince Emeka Mamah as Managing Director, Enugu North Zone Transport Terminals; and Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene as a member of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Professor Onyia stated that while the appointments of the commissioners-designate are subject to legislative confirmation, “all other appointments take effect immediately.”
