The Mayflower Old Students’ Association (MOSA) is set to mark the 70th anniversary of Mayflower School, Ikenne, in January.
This milestone event is being positioned not merely as a celebration, but as a momentous generational gathering to honour the legacy of a school that has shaped countless lives across the globe.
Speaking at the inauguration of the event’s planning committee in Ikenne, President of MOSA, Otunba Wale Abdul, emphasised the importance of the anniversary, noting that Mayflower School has made significant contributions to national development.
He paid tribute to the school’s founders, the late Dr. Tai Solarin and his wife, Sheila, describing their vision as a priceless gift to humanity. According to Abdul, their dedication to educational excellence continues to bear fruit through the accomplishments of the school’s alumni, many of whom have attained remarkable heights in various fields around the world.
The newly inaugurated planning committee, chaired by Mrs. Kemi Soname, has promised a grand and impactful celebration. In her remarks, Soname highlighted that the anniversary would be far more than a routine event. “This is a generational celebration, one that captures the enduring spirit and vision of our founders,” she said, urging all stakeholders to be part of the historic moment.
Other committee members include the Vice Chairman, Tayo Matiluko, Secretary Ibukun Akintola and members, Jumoke Oyenuga, Gbenga Bankole, Bisi Bello, Sherifat Balogun, Ademola Adeniran and Kolawole Hassan. Plans are underway to establish sub-committees dedicated to medical services, publicity and fundraising.
